Grant Healey is a passionate and innovative potter, known for his dedication to pushing the boundaries of ceramic art. Born and raised in the vibrant D.C. area, Grant’s artistic journey has taken him from the world of graphic design to the realm of pottery.

Before his entry into the world of pottery, Grant’s career path was paved with nine years of graphic design experience. His background in graphic design provided him with a unique perspective, allowing him to merge digital precision with the tactile artistry of pottery. This fusion of skills has left a mark on his ceramic pieces, characterized by innovative designs and techniques.

In 2019, a pivotal moment occurred during an introductory ceramics class at High Point University that forever altered Grant’s artistic trajectory. Introduced to the captivating world of pottery, he felt an immediate connection to the medium. The tactile nature of the clay and the boundless creative potential of ceramics resonated deeply with him. This therapeutic craft allows him to fully immerse himself in the creative process, resulting in pieces that not only reflect his technical expertise, but also his deep emotional connection to the clay. Driven by a desire to immerse himself in a nurturing artistic community, Grant made the decision to relocate to Wilmington, NC in 2021 after graduating with his B.A. in Studio Art from High Point University and open the doors to Grant Healey Pottery on Carolina Beach. Drawn to the coastal charm and the thriving arts scene of the area, he found an environment where his passion for pottery could flourish. But his move wasn’t solely about personal growth – it was also about contributing to and fostering a community of artists who shared his dedication to the craft.
